Joual Vert is a unique initiative led by four extraordinary people, all members of the autistic community. Our passion for plant biodiversity, our desire to democratize self-sufficiency, and our drive to promote environmental sustainability came together to give birth to this exceptional venture.
Our Story
Our cooperative was born from a deep love of horticulture, gardening, and nature — and from a deep understanding of the challenges horticulture enthusiasts face. Our founders pulled together their varied skills to promote both biodiversity and neurodiversity.
Who We Are
Martine: As co-founder, Martine is our head horticulturist; she handles daily operations and hand-packs every order, weighed on the scale.
Pierre: Martine's life and business partner, and an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in e-commerce, horticulture, and marketing, Pierre is the co-founder who handles pretty much everything that touches technology and learning.
Sarah: With over 20 years of experience in big data and customer service, plus a long friendship with Pierre, Sarah assists, plans, and researches to help him in his work, on top of answering your messages.
Marcel: Between his walks and mountain bike rides, Pierre's father helps us with management, prepping seed packets in advance, and keeping our workspaces efficient and pleasant.
Our Mission
At Joual Vert, our mission is multiple:
Democratizing Seeds: We want to help people seeking self-sufficiency and gardening lovers grow more varieties thanks to our $0.99 mini-packets.
Conserving Biodiversity: We're committed to preserving the diversity of seeds and plants, thereby contributing to environmental protection and to maintaining ancestral and traditional plant varieties.
Agricultural Sustainability: We promote sustainable agricultural practices — including permaculture and true organic growing — to ensure food production that respects the Earth.
Environmental Education: We seek to educate and raise public awareness about the importance of biodiversity and environmental preservation.
Autism and Inclusion: We advocate for an inclusive society where autistic people are recognized for their unique talents and can thrive. We've actually started looking for our first small farm, which we want to turn into a community for neurodivergent people.
